New commerce and old store houses – the Überseestadt
On the territory of the old Bremen ports, really near the city centre, a new district has developed since the millenium. The town opted for a mixture of industrial plants, apartments, offices, shops and restaurants. The high demand for residential and commercial space speaks volumes for the concept.
The Überseestadt covers an area of 300 hectares, that’s why Bremer Promenaden offers this guided tour not only for pedestrians, but also for coach tours and – if weather and street conditions permit – also for bikers.
Witness the old port atmosphere with its new residents: in sheds and store-houses we discover among other things the port museum and a coffee roasting house. A special eye catcher is shed 1 with its veteran car exhibition. In shed 2 you can see how trophies are made. Next door a destillery offers different brandies.
